The single highest paying event on the professional tour is now in the books and the excitement for the MPO title was not at all mirrored in the FPO division as Paige Pierce won the event by 11 strokes. Missy Ganon finished in second place at -8 for the tournament with Sarah Hokom rounding out the top three at -5.
Hokom finished the tournament remarkably well and was definitely an underdog for the podium going into the event because of her heavy reliance on her sidearm. However, throughout the tournament, she completely corrected those inaccurate predictions and remained on the lead card for three of four total rounds. Valerie Mandujano finished the tournament at -4 after shooting +1 during the final round.
Elite Series event. She tied with Hailey King for 5th place at -3 for the tournament. Just three strokes behind Oliva and King sat Heather Young and Catrina Allen; the last of those finishing at even-par or under.
In the MPO division, Ricky Wysocki found himself tied for the lead with Calvin Heimburg at -17 going into the final day, but both quickly lost the lead to Kyle Klein who birdied the first five holes of the final round before a lightning delay paused the first round. The delay lasted a few hours until the day was deemed unfit for play, yielding a shared title for Calvin Heimburg and Ricky Wysocki.
Eagle McMahon finished a stroke behind the leaders taking third place.
Sunset Hills and Northwood Black taught many top pros a lesson or two about shooting under par. This includes the two players who played off for the world championship this year: James Conrad and Paul McBeth.
McBeth found himself one stroke off th
e lead after the first round at Eureka Lake, but finished +6 through 36 holes at Northwood Black to finish him in a tie for eighteenth with Casey White and Chris Clemons.
Unlike McBeth, James Conrad just had a disappointing tournament. He began the tournament with a roller coaster one -1 at Eureka including: eight birdies, four bogeys, and a triple bogey. However, James still beat the likes of Paul Ulibarri, Adam Hammes, James Proctor, Gavin Rathbun, and Cameron Colglazier.
Our condolences to Kyle Klein, who got robbed by nature this weekend.
